What is Restylane?
The Restylane® line of products is formulated to act like your body’s own naturally occurring hyaluronic acid, restoring volume to your skin. During the aging process, our natural hyaluronic acid chains lose their ability to absorb water, leaving the skin sunken and flat. Restylane creates more volume in your cheeks with a more natural appearance than that of plastic surgery. The hyaluronic acid absorbs water, filling up and giving the skin a fuller, more youthful look.
What will happen during my Restylane procedure?
Restylane injections are administered to the treatment areas through a tiny needle. Depending on the extent of treatment, the procedure can take from a few minutes up to 30 minutes. It is often performed with local anesthesia, especially if the lip is being treated. Injection pain is reported by most patients to be very minimal and brief.
What will be involved in my recovery?
The most common side effects of Restylane are swelling, redness, pain, bruising and tenderness in and around the injection sites, which typically go away within a week. No bandages or dressings are required, and you may return to work and normal activities right away. You will be instructed to avoid sun exposure.
What results can I expect from my treatment?
Restylane treatment results can last up to 6 months at which point the hyaluronic acid is reabsorbed by the body. Touch-up treatments may be recommended to maintain the effect.
